Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist. Regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, he rose to success during the 1980s as part of the Neo-expressionism movement. 

Eyes and Eggs was produced using acrylic, oilstick and paper collages upon a large canvas which was sized at over three metres in length. It was completed by Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1983. The painting depicts a black man in simple clothes and with a frying pan in his right hand, with eggs cooking in the centre.
